moving to ecuador

We are interested in moving to Ecuador for our retirement years. We will have enough with our pensions and SS, however we're interested in having some sort of side business to compensate our fixed income each month. We're thinking possibly a small store in which we can present and sell some of the ecuadorian hand made items, or possibly rent out rooms in our home to travelers. If we did the latter, we'd need to buy a home large enough to be able to house guests. We were looking at several areas to buy...on the beaches, or inland by Cotacachi perhaps. Would like some feedback on possibilities in these areas and prices of 4-5 bedroom homes. Thanks for your feedback.
