Cell phone, internet, cable

Hi - moving to Quito shortly and will probably buy a cell phone right when I get there. Probably one of the pre-paid card variety. Does anyone know of a website that might show a couple models available? Any opinions over a contract or a pay-as-you-go arrangement?

Also, how does internet access there work? Is it done wirelessly thru your phone, or different that that? How much does internet run, and in your opinion is internet access in the home worthwhile, or am I better off just running off to a cabina whenever I have online stuff to do? Being in Ecuador I can probably get in the habit of being less reliant on technology.

How does cable service there work? Is it ONLY thru DirecTV or are there other providers as well? How much does internet run, and is a year contract usually necessary? (Do televisions cost the same in Ecuador as the states?)

If anyone has any information on how much electronics cost there, it would be most helpful - trying to determine if I should bring a small TV with me, or buy something there.

Thanks for your help!
