Hey everybody. As I've posted before, my wife and I will be coming to Ecuador the first of August (when I officially retire) and we will be touring as much of the country as we can in our search for a retirement home. I just learned of another small town near Ibarra, known as Urcuqui. Not much on the internet, that I've found. Gary Scott introduced this town to his Ecuador Living subscribers today and it sounds as though it could be another Cotacachi in the making...that is...before land prices went through the roof. Does anyone know anything about this town? Water quailty, safety, etc. Looks to be very close to the border of Columbia...maybe too close. The few pictures I have seen look beautiful and the weather is supposedly a bit warmer than Cotacachi, being that it is at a lower altitude. As always, I depend on this forum for the best source of information. I'm all ears!
