Looking for Expat experience

Currently living in Washington state on 20 acres 12 miles outside tiny town of <3,000. Next town of 14,000 1 hr away, Portland 2.5 and Seattle 4 hrs.

Have lived in 5 other countries and visited Ec, but not with thought of moving there, now for many reasons, no other country is being considered.

Looking for Andean region, indigenous population, no adverse environmental stuff like mining, pesticides etc. A climate that is suitable for year round gardening.
Over 70 degrees, we'll be too hot, below freezing and plants will object.

Hope to find some Expats who have taken the plunge before us and can share experiences.

Have worn several hats, Naturopath, custom home builder etc. Eventually will build, are permits required everywhere or?

To build own home does one need to be a Maestro?

Has anyone shipped livestock from the US, ie horses.

Really appreciate all of the helpful information I've found in last couple of days.
