Ecuador Dam Information

Ecuador is at the top of a very short list, with nothing even close to it, for permanent relocation.

A recent concern is the proposal for up to 226 new hydroelectric projects.

With this progress, in exchange for mineral extractions, in pristine Amazonian & Andean regions, comes towering & /hazardous transmission line corridors and changes in natural flows for a significant sections of the rivers.

I hope that Ecuador lives up to it's commitment to protect the environment and considers the serious loss of economy revenue from the loss of tourism in these sensitive areas and from persons seeking permanent new homes.

I'm greatly concerned about the potential devastation caused by hydroelectric dams.

The areas that interest me the most are the indigenous communities that would be destroyed, and the environmental impact.

Has anyone been closely following these proposed projects?
