Someone asked about cost of living in Ecuador, here is cost of living in Quito.
It is approximate of course, can be better, can be worst.

Let's say you stay in our Quito furnished two bedroom condo,
all utilities, hot water, internet, TV cable included, except tank gas

Total rent/household expenses in Quito $6180, let's make it $6200 for one year
changing gas tank/buying household items $15 per month x12 = $180
Rent $500 per month x12 = $6000

Food: Total meals for the year in Quito $4320, let's make it $5000
breakfast at home or at cafe $2x30 days x12month = $720
lunch (mall's food court prices) $5x30x12 = $1800
you can buy lunch (almuerzo) at little cafes for $1.5- $3 per meal
night meal (mall's food court prices) $5x30x12 = $1800
the same with night meal, you can make it $1.5 - $3 per meal

Total beer/wine bought in the store in Quito, for the year $662, let's make it $700

Beer Pilsiner bottle (750ml) $1
$1x30x12= $360 if every day you drink one bottle bought in the store
The best drinkable box wine in Ecuador is Clos $6
$6x4.2(weeks per month) x12 approx. $302 if you buy in the store

Transportation in Quito: $360 for one year
25 cents to have one ride on the trolley or bus
$0.25x4 (trips per day) x30 days x12months = $360 for one year

Recreation in Quito $3600 for one year
Whatever it might be for you: Spanish lessons, going to the movie,
occasional concert, having few drinks at the bar, going to the discotheque, etc
$10 per day x30 days x12 months = $3600

Occasional medical expense in Quito: $200 per year

Grand total Cost of living in Quito for one year in comfortable apartment with hot water, internet and Cable TV, eating well, drinking wine and beer, moving around often, having fun for $10 per day and even occasional visit to the doctor: approx $16000
