storage and moving companies

Hi everyone, does anyone have a recommendation on a moving/storage company in California?
I an coming down in Nov. for a few weeks and if everything goes like I think it will, I will come home, rent my home out have a international moving company box and store my stuff. Then come back and find some land to build or buy a used and refurbish it.
Now here is the real question. I have some pretty nice things, but I also have seen and heard about the lovely things built there. Should I spend the cash to store and move my stuff or just start all over? Idea's please.
