Theater in Guayaquil: One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest (Spanish)

this is a theatrical production of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. This production highlights the interaction between the character made famous (in the film of the same name) by Jack Nicholson and the character of the "deaf-mute" Indian, portrayed as a member of the Shuar (an ancient, still vital tribe who reside in the Oriente of Ecuador.

Directed by Jaime Tamariz and starring David Reinoso, Montse Serra and Andrés Garzón. With Alexander Fajardo, Marcelo Varas, Antonio Aguirre, Marcelo Gálvez, Julio Andrade, Alejandra Paredes and Luciana Grassi. Chevi Muraday choreography and musical composition by Manuel Larrea. Adaptation of Andres Crespo and Denise Nader.

This is a reflection on the power of reason in society, but also a fun and endearing story of camaraderie and sacrifice by way of Fable by Chief Anank, a healer Shuar who resides in a mental Hospital and pretends to be deaf-mute. When in the hospital lllega Joel Benavides, a gambler accused of statutory rape which simulates being a mentally ill person to release from jail, Anank engaged in a deep friendship with him and accordingly will escape a hilarious, poignant and epic battle between the patients and the Rada graduate, a woman of imperturbable cruelty obsessed with order, discipline and control.

Esta es una reflexión sobre el poder de la razón en la sociedad, pero también, una divertida y entrañable historia de camaradería y sacrificios narrada a manera de fábula por el Jefe Anank, un curandero Shuar que reside en un Hospital Psiquiátrico y finge ser sordomudo. Cuando al hospital lllega Joel Benavides, un apostador acusado de estupro que simula ser un enfermo mental para liberarse de la cárcel, Anank entabla una profunda amistad con él y a partir de eso se librará una hilarante, conmovedora y épica batalla entre los pacientes y la Licenciada Rada, una mujer de imperturbable crueldad obsesionada con el orden, la disciplina y el control.
