New expat moving to Quito - Advice?

Hello,

I will be a new expat relocating to Quito from the U.S and was searching for lessons learned from other expats in the Quito area, as wells as locals. I have been traveling there for business for the last 6 months with stays as long as 3 weeks and still have tons of questions about living in Quito. Any answers or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

1) What is the true cost of living expenses when compared to the Southern U.S?

2) What are some "must bring with you" items and what are some "don't bother bringing with you" items?

3) Health insurance? Private care costs?

Any advice you could pass my way would be greatly appreciated. I should be relocating in the next few months.
