More on 90 day tourist visa

A lot of guidebook information is outdated. Because immigration is now computerized, the 90 day limit is strictly enforced. Last month I didn't notice that the inbound stamp did not print in my passport -- no matter, on exit the computer scan date showed.

It is 90 days total in the last 365 days, it is NOT by calendar year. A tourist visa can NOT be extended, not even 1 day. Your our only option if you have to stay longer is to apply and pay for a business or other type of visa, which I did last year.

Always schedule the return flight with 2 or more days to spare. Flights outbound are sometimes delayed a day or so, and you could end up living in the departure lounge.

Take the time to verify the time limit exit date with immigration when you ENTER; I have been "short stamped" more than once.
