Well, we finally made it to Cuenca. Staying at Hotel Otorongo where the staff is wonderful. It is located about a 5 minute taxi ride, or 20 minute walk from El Centro. The Cuencanos are very nice and helpful, even those who don't speak English try to help. With minimal Spanish, we get by OK. It has been unseasonably cold last few weeks although yesterday was finally very warm although rained in late afternoon. We've met several Americans here. A must see if you get here is the Eduardo Vega Gallery/Workshop. Incredible, internationally-reknown ceramic artist, and breathtaking view of Cuenca from high up on a mountain in Tori. Taxi rides are very inexpensive and quick although taxi drivers must have trained in NYC. Nos vemos.
