Jewish Holidays ~ New Years etc.

Hola and Shalom to my fellow members of the Jewish tribe!

The Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Wednesday September 28th (and continues for two days until sundown Friday the 30th when Shabbat begins) Yom Kippur begins at sundown Friday October 7 and ends on Saturday at sundown October 8th (along with Shabbat) and Sukkot begins at sundown on the 12th of October and continues until the 19th.

For folks up in Quito there is a large Jewish community. There is an expat community in Cuenca and I will put out feelers to see what is happening up there.

Personally I will be heading up to my "boys' (okay they are in their 20's and 30's so what does that make me, eh?) from HolaOlaCafe.com in Montanita and celebrating in our one of a kind mixture of Israeli Sephardic and NY Ashkenazic traditions with a good dose of hippy style and a welcome to all the back packer kids to come over and eat!

Anyone here in the Salinas area planning something more traditional, let me know and I'll get the word out.

Until then: A happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful ano nuevo 5771
