How to get from Costa Rica to Ecuador?

Hi All~

I'm looking for info on how to get from Costa Rica to Ecuador ... I know the obvious, but flights I'm seeing go from CR to Miami then to Quito. I will be in CR in early November and then want to head to Ec. It's odd to me, that flights I can get from San Francisco to Ec are less than those from CR > EC.

Am I looking for 'love in all the wrong places' or is this just how it works. I'm open to any suggestions as how to get from A to B or in this case, from C to E ... HELP! Any suggestions considered and appreciated!

Thanks all ... after a year and a half delay bc of health issues, I'm excited to finally be heading down that way. I hope to finally meet some of you.
