New Antitrust Law - Ecuador

A new antitrust law has gone into affect. This gives the the President tremendous additional powers when it comes to business. I highly recommend that if you live in Ecuador or considering a move to take a look at this article in the Economist.

My observation is that the President is doing much to consolidate additional power. He is increasing the Police force to 60,000 over the next several years. I believe that this will strengthen his power but have little impact on what the government claims is to improve security. Did Quito or Guayaquil become safer after the State of Emergencies that were declared a few years ago?
