best region for nice weather

We are doing our homework before we do our leg work in Ecuador to relocate....Can anyone help me with the weather concerns I hear about the coast and the mountains...We live on the coast of Yucatan in MX and love it except for the fact that we need air cond a lot of the time.....too expensive for energy bills here...is there an area where you can have nice warm weather and sunshine, cooler nights and shorter rainy season? Or am I out to lunch ? lol
