..a not so funny question

Hi all,

I posted identical question on the Costa Rica forum as we are researching these 2 countries for a possible visits.

I (and my dearest half) are of the age when very often, we construct our goings out, if of somewhat of a lengthy nature, in a way, that never takes us further then a "in-there-on-a-2/3min" notice for a public washroom.

Plenty of good and relatively clean ones in the malls, grocery stores, coffee shops here in Hamilton, Canada (Thank G-ness for Tim Horton's - ah-h!).

How are things in Ecuador? Would we be able to use a facility on a need-to-use basis as freely as we do it in the US/Canada? Do we need to carry a roll of clean toilet paper as is the conclusion we drew, based on replies we got about Costa Rica? Would we need to buy something before being allowed to use some washroom facilities in public places?
