Cost of rent in Cuenca

I am motivated to write this after receiving an unsolicited response to my post about searching for a house rental in the $300-$350 range.

"FOr that budget price I have a nice box under the broken bridge to offer you . Get Real!"

This reply was from an agent or broker who makes their living renting places to people, so they're definitely going to be annoyed at someone looking for a $300 rental. There's no room for commission.

The reality is there are rentals in the $300 range and they are far from nasty places under a broken down bridge. We missed a nice new 4 bedroom a few weeks ago for about $325. The location wasn't wonderful, but it was good and safe for what "we" are looking for. Not all Gringos want the amazing luxury living that others do. We know of too many people renting in the $300 range to think we have to pay $500 or more.
