Help for a newby please

Hi folks,
My husband and I are planning a trip to Ecuador in April as a life change exploratory visit! We presently live in beautiful Sedona Az, but need to put this politically corrupt country behind us before the "pooh hits the fan". We are liking what we are learning about Ecuador from afar. My question is: what can anyone share with me about WORK. I have been unable to find out anything. I am an RN and unfortunately am one of the 99 percent who must work for a living! Does (what sounds like a wonderful and compassionate heath care system) hire foreigners? And will I be able to have a middle class life style? My husband is a computer guy, so I am the concern. We as well do not have a great savings, but a little to get by on. We are thinking Cuenca.
Any feedback would be graciously appreciated.
