Salinas area

I would like to visit and look for a rental 1 bedroom a little further inland from Salinas where I am hoping it would be cheaper.Maybe even share a place with someone compatible.Where would I fly into,transpotation to the Salinas area,hostel,transportation for looking around,local dentist and doctors.Also,other than offshore fishing,what type of fish can be caught fishing the beach and rivers.I do a lot of wade fishing in Texas and was wondering what type fishing they have there,flounder,red fish,speckeled trout etc.
