LATEST VISA INFORMATION

I just got off the phone with the Ecuadorian Consulate in Miami regarding Visas and I was told that if you wish to become a resident, you should to visit a consulate and complete a residency form 12-9. This visa is good for 6 months. Short term visitors (90) days, need nothing except a passport.

For the residency visa, 12-9 they require, in addition to a passport with more than 6 months left, two additional passport photos, a letter from either social security or some other pension plan that proves your monthly income and three recent bank or brokerage statements. The Social Security letter must be notarized and translated it into Spanish. The consulate will do that form you for $40. The total cost is $330.00. You do not need a copy of your criminal record, but you might need it in Ecuador when you apply for your Cedula.

The Miami Consulate toll free number is: 786-237-2203, press 9 for English and extension 234 for a delightful woman named Diana. The address is: 117 NW 42nd Avenue, Miami, Fl 33126. The email address is: [email protected]. If a consulate is too far to drive, you can do it by mail.
