Hello to everyone,
I've been reading most of your posts for the past few weeks and would like to start by thanking you all for your advice and comments to all the posters.
We are a couple in their early forties who are just about to "retire". We presently live in Montreal, Canada. I can't complain about our life here, we enjoy it very much, but we miss the sun and beach and are not so fond of the snow (I've always said I'm sure I was born under a palm tree but some French Canadian woman stole me and brought me to the land of snow and hockey.:-)
My wife MJ and I are seriously considering a move to Ecuador this year or, maybe 2013. Our intent is to eventually buy, so if we move this year we intend to rent for the first year in order to confirm if Salinas is where we want to stay or if we'd prefer another coastal town/city.
We might be going for a short exploration trip this April or, worse case, this June. I've quickly looked online for rentals in the Salinas area but found very little. We're hoping someone on this forum could help us out with either website info or contacts of people you know who do rent.
Our April/June trip would only be for two weeks. However, if we do decide to officially "move in" as of this summer, we'd be looking for a one year rental.
This should be the first of many posts from us. I'll try to find all the info I can on the forum before asking my questions to you all. Hopefully soon enough, I can contribute for others as well.
I'd also appreciate if some of you could point out some of the main towns where many expats can be found. We'd love to chat with some of you when we go down if that's possible.
Many thanks in advance, and best regards to all,
Marc
