Canadians in Cuenca (Sigh!)

I'm dying to get there! But I have 3 teenagers that need their daddy for a few more years. So until I can move (right now about a 25% probability, but going up monthly) I live there vicariously.
Are there many Canadians there? How's the internet speed? I get about 25 GB here (tv via internet--Telus). Can I stream Hockey Night in Canada reasonably well?
I'd be moving just myself. I will be splitting from my wife in the next year or two (she's got a serious gal-pal).
I'm learning Spanish (slowly) and eating up all I can find about Cuenca and Ecuador right now.
