what rights?

With all respect to other nationalities, I speak from a US point of view. When a foreigner moves into Ecuador, he/she becomes subject to EC law. Your rights from your home country do not apply. For example, you do not have freedom of speech when it comes to making accusations about another person. You are guilty until proven otherwise. Government agencies have a hard time keeping up with changes and people are employed just to put a stamp on a document. The embassy can't really help you in a government other than to facilitate a phone call to family in the old country. No amount whining will change things.
There are some great pluses. One of which is that for the most part the government is not in your daily life. You can make changes in your home without endless inspections. You don't have to deal with tax returns and those who have reached the tercera edad can enjoy some nice benefits.
If you want and think that you deserve the rights of your home country, then maybe you ought to stay there.
