Modes of Transportation

Hello all, just some questions regarding the best ways to get from point A to B.

I understand the public transportation in the cities of EC is good, and that it is affordable too. Giving up the old Tahoe (and it's old enough being a '99) will not be so much of a problem for me, but I will miss it; we've had good times and traveled many places. The stickers on my rear windows show that well enough, hailing from Niagara Falls to the Keys and points west. And honestly, I would love to be able fill up for less than 40 dollars with the $1.48 a gallon gas EC enjoys... But I don't think transporting its big self would be worth it. Also, I am needing to shed some of my Americana and ALL my bulk before I leave. So I'll kiss her goodbye and find her a good home.
So public transportation will be fine for the most part, but I would still like the freedom to buzz to the market on my own as well. I understand motorcycles are popular for some, and that's great too.

So, do you drive, or always take public conveyance? Do many of you, or those you know, ride motorcycles? And if you do, what kind and how much does a decent 500-1000 cc bike run there?

I know thst the answers will vary, and that each has their own preference; I would just be glad for some person input on your parts and I thank you in advance for you help.

I am getting a quote Tuesday on moving my bike to Cuenca.. I have no idea what to expect. I can give up the SUV - leave my Chevy at the levy, as it is.. but I want my motorcycle. It's a '06 Harley Police bike and it is my friend. If I have to leave her and replace it with a rice rocket, I will be sad. Actually, I would like a smaller cafe style bike, but as an addition, not a replacement. The open mountain roads here are my favorite, and I know a long scenic haul through the Sierras would spectacular.
Any advice, opinions, warnings, observations or even funny stories would be greatly appreciated
