Guayaquil Independence Day ~ Public Holiday October 12, 2012

Guayaquil Independence Day (which is actually the 9th of October) will have it's Public Observance this year on Friday the 12th of October 2012

Banks, Schools and Public Offices will be closed.

Be aware of street closures for parades on Guayas province and in Santa Elena. The usual traffic will be heading to the coast with extra lanes coming west on Thursday and Friday and back East on Sunday and Policia Transito will be out in force to enforce DUI, car checks for drugs/firearms, and speed limit enforcement --

And the partying begins (as always) Thursday night at Hola Ola in Montanita and finishes sometime around 6am Monday morning...
