What do I like about Cuenca or Ecuador

This is another in the series “ What do I like about Cuenca or Ecuador”. I have expanded my horizons to include the entire country. After visiting most of the countries in Central America, Columbia, Peru, Aruba, Belize, other islands in the Dutch Antilles, Dominica, the Caymans and Ecuador, Ecuador was my choice. For several months in 2011 and 2012 I visited about 6 Ecuadorian cities, before choosing Cuenca as where I wanted to make my home. I have not regretted one moment spent here, I love the city, the culture, the weather and most of all the people.

Being a divorced man, I was also interested in the local flora and fauna and sometime in 2011, I discovered the Latin American Cupid website: www.latinamericancupid.com. Over the past 1.5 years I have become acquainted online with about 25-30 lovely Latin ladies from Columbia, Peru, Panama and Ecuador as well as a few living in the US. I found several who wanted to bake me cookies and being a lifelong cookie lover I succumbed. For those men who are also cookie lovers—a word of caution; sampling more than one cookie at a time can be dangerous and you might wind up sleeping with one eye open.

I had been exposed to the Latin culture living in south Florida for over 20 years. The culture of married Latin women is one of treating the man in their life like a king and even if they are abused and cheated on, they usually stick it out until the children are grown and then they throw the bums out. As a result there are hundreds if not thousands of divorced, widowed Latin women of all ages looking for a lasting trusting relationship and they especially like North American men. I surmise this is because they feel they will be better treated and in most cases they are correct. The second time around for these women, they are not as forgiving as before. But the love, caring, passion and loyalty have to be experienced. In my view, North American women could learn a lot from their Latin counterparts, but whether they will or not is unfortunately doubtful. There are also many single, divorced or widowed North American women in Ecuador but I have not found one who measures up to their Latin sisters.

I have had loving relationships with several Ecuadorian, Columbian and Panamanian women and I will probably marry a wonderful woman from Ambato who rode a bus 8 hours to spend a weekend with me last year after being pen pals for about 6 months. Initially I had labeled women from that far away as being “geographically undesirable”. As it turns out, the cookies were too good to pass up.
