staying in Ecuador

I saw someone on another thread asked why so many people leave Cuenca and it got me thinking. First off a little backround. My wife and I have lived in Ecuador for 4 plus years. We have a property in Cotacachi and one in Crucita. I find everybody living here likes to blame Pedicord or International living for people being disappointed. I happen to believe that is also the unreal expectations people on this forum and others like it.
Just some of the things that are put out there as gospel. The medical system here is almost trouble free. Well that may be so if you live in a major city and can afford a private hospital, but God help you if you live in a small town and have an emergency. Cuenca has the best water in latin America. Says who? What about the people that come here and just can't get used to tap water which there are many. There is no gringo invasion, They only make up less than 1 % of the population of Cuenca and less than 2% in Cotacachi. This is all true but most of the gringo's live within walking distance of each other. So the 70 yr old ecuadoriano that's been living in those areas since they've been a kid and see nothing but gringo's walking around their park and taking over their business it sure looks like an invasion to them. Whoever decides to move here needs to know that if they want something as close as they can get to a US city Cuenca and Cotacachi is for them. Gas and propane are very cheap. True now but the gov't wants to remove all subsidies for both in 2016. Electrical service is great. Yes unless you were here in 2009 during the drought and they shut off the power 3 to 5 afternoons a week. They are now trying to build more hydro plants but who knows when, and again if we have another drought who knows. I'll save the best for last, one of the posters here who lives in Cuenca likes to tell you he can't IMAGINE living some where else.Well I hope this brain dead statement isn't what you expect to find here, because if you have no imagination about other places in this world there is something wrong with your thought process. In ending this let me say this is just a small list of the b/s and outright untruths (if Booby was still hear he would give me hell for being pc) that have been posted on this and other forums. In spite of this I'm going to live here the rest of my life because when I got here I checked it out for myself.
PS:They also over use pesticides, and if you hear there are no gmo products here don't buy American canned products that are at every large super market. Oh yeah even though the gov't says they are a 21'st century socialist gov't don't belive them because the gov't owns no businesses......Except the oil company which is the largest part of Ecuadors gdp
