I've been trying to decide on a destination between Cuenca and Quito (I haven’t been to Ecuador yet). First of all, I think climate-wise the two cities have virtually the same weather aside from a couple of degrees' difference so that's not a problem. As one who has always lived in coastal areas, I have a question on the altitude. Quito is higher than Cuenca. Does that difference in altitude visibly affect a person's health condition? Do people have any breathing issues in Quito (I'm only talking about altitude, not pollution, related) or in Cuenca for that matter? Although I don’t currently suffer from heart problem, will choosing Quito over Cuenca raise any long-term health concerns? I'd appreciate any advice you can give. I will ask more questions about the two cities later. Thanks in advance.
