Noobie here with pet questions

Hi everyone,

I just joined the forum but have been living in Atacames, Ecuador for just over a year. I was doing a google search for tick control and stumbled across this site. Very helpful info, btw.

I found out the hard way that ticks are a big problem here. I have two 7 month old mini schnauzers that I got here who have recently become ridden with ticks. We've been to the vet who gave me some stuff to fumigate the apartment with. I already had some meds to put on the dogs, that once a month stuff, but I will need to buy more here soon. Things seem to be improving gradually, but omg! I've never seen such a thing. Even with the meds and spraying the apt, every day I find them in their ears or between their toes, poor things!

So my question is, besides what I am currently doing, is there anything else I can do to rid my dogs and apt of these nasty bugs?

Also, I have another question, this one about travel. My husband and I will be taking both dogs to the US in December for about 2 months. Would someone be so kind as to explain the process? I've read a few posts, but there seems to be conflicting info. They are up to date on vaccines, I know I need a certificate of health from my local vet which I need to present at the airport in Quito, but thats about all I know. I have one month to get organized! Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Sunni
