I've quite possibly picked the worse times of year to join a forum; the fact that you're also all probably in bed won't help either.

Anyway, I'm Matt, a 27 year old British uni student graduating in July 2014. This year I got engaged to an Ecuadorian. She's a lawyer from Quito, which is know is actually very useful. But she's never been abroad, so I'll be looking for as much advice as I can get. The most important thing for me, and something that really worries Monica, is that I've had a kidney transplant. Monica's sister and uncle are both doctors, and I'm hoping that will be useful in some way. Just last night, Monica said that medical insurance in Ecuador is not very good and the cost of seeing a transplant doctor and my medication is very expensive. Can any of you tell me if what Monica said is accurate?

There's two other things that worry me. First is I will be looking for a job, but I've no idea where to start. My plan is for me to get a job as soon as possible after I finish uni this summer, save money like mad and move to Ecuador in January 2015, where I'll find volunteer work and hopefully that will lead to full time employment. Fingers crossed it will work.

My other concern is that most of my social life revolves around two sports; cricket and (field) hockey. I'm guessing no, but are there any clubs for either of these sports in Quito?

Many thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.
