Plastic Surgery in Ecuador

Hello fellow expats. I have been a reader of this forum for quite a long time and there's some good information posted here. Oceanhideaway, the Queen of all that's current and changing for those moving in, is a safe bet for sure. I definitely do not share in her views of many of life subjects ethically, but, she stays in the know and is happy to help others with her research and hard work for the practical facts in this county. I feel I should pay my poster respects to her before I continue.

I have taken great pains in hiding my identity from those of you who might know me. Why?

Because I want to post some useful information on a delicate and private subject. I remember the theme coming up several years ago. One of the strongest positive points of moving to Ecuador is the excellent and affordable health care that may not be so available to people back home. I have been hospitalized in Ecuador and have received great care from several private clinics in the Country. However, elective surgery is a different beast entirely. Film stars, even with all their connections and big bucks have had huge problems. Scary joker smiles, bulges in the wrong places, freaky faces....But. For some insane reason, I started to toy with the idea of elective surgery anyway. I researched and researched and interviewed and interviewed (I speaka da Spanich) and maybe after one too many glasses of wine, I decided to jump in and stop playing around. I picked (of course) a very modern and upscale clinic in Guayaquil. The price, although it shouldn't count- does count. Let's get real. So I will post that as well. It was maybe 1/3 of the price for the same procedures in a not so great clinic in the states...even less when you consider the medicine and overnight stays. Most importantly, this Doctor did an amazing job. I'm shocked. Maybe Goldie Hawn should have headed down here. So, for any ladies and gentlemen who no longer want to live with.....whatever.....This is a start. At least the part of locating a competent and gifted plastic surgeon, which is daunting in this country, doesn't have to be so frightening. This man is exceptional in his field and is extremely conscientious. His nurses....well, that's for another post.

I'm not by any means advocating plastic surgery...And, people should consider every single aspect of what and why they want to change their bodies or faces or whatever. I'm not even sure I would do it over again if given the opportunity for a redo in time travel (I think I like adventure so probably, yes). But, for those who always knew they would do it someday if they were given the chance..here is some good information for you.
