Loja VS Cuenca

In the next month I am making the move from the US to Ecuador to teach ESL. I am in a bit of a pickle deciding between Loja vs. Ecuador.
Let me first tell youa little about myself and what I'm looking for.. I've taught in a large city in East Java, Indonesia but one with very few expats. So I'm not in search of somewhere saturated with expats. I like culture and living the true Ecuadorian life. I am also looking for one big enough to have a wide variety of things to do, plenty to keep one content for around 5 months. At this point I have pro's for both cities.. Loja being that its the cultural & music capitol of Ecuador, the pay there is better. Cuenca because it has been highly regarded by people (but maybe because they're not familiar with Loja) and the school year begins a bit later than Loja (giving me a few more weeks to make htis desicion). ANY insight would be exceptionally helpful! Please people feel free to speak from your heart! THANK YOU!
