Hello
My husband and I are in our mid-twenties, we have bachelor's degrees, and are beginning to realize the lack of opportunity for us here in the states. Life here just feels so boxed in, the possibilities feel few. In the sense of being able to enjoy life and not get caught up in consumerism.
We have always discussed living overseas, but initially were unsure about what that meant, english teachers, volunteer based missionaries, working for the government?
We discussed and researched each path.
In the past year I have been running a $30,000 a week Starbucks. I am good with numbers, business, customer service, and most of all managing people.
The idea of being an entrepreneur doesn't seem so intimidating anymore, and when we discussed that idea, our hearts and minds exploded with the joy of a true discovery for our future.
In some ways just believing we can do it was the key.
With all that said, there is so much more to figure out.
How realistic is it for an expat to open a business like a B&B? in Ecuador?
How much capital does one need?
Do people arrange mortgages?
I obviously know nothing.
I would love some advice, feedback, etc…
Right now our plan is live in the States, pay off debt, save, and then hopefully take a trip to Ecuador to explore what it is really like.
