Airport Customs in August 2014

Back in the USS, back in the USS, back in the USSR...Or at least the Santa Elena Peninsula.

For the first time in over two decades...customs waved us through without putting our bags on the xray machine. Or, shoving their hands in each suitcases, tossing everything out and asking lots of questions, as they used to do in the caveman days when there were no machines.

After someone came over and administered CPR, I stood up, trying not to look too excited lest they change their minds, and quickly pushed our carts around. There were surprised looks (some were not as happy for us as I was) from the others waiting in the long line behind us.

6 big canvas bag, two over stuffed carry on's, a giant purse, and the maximum of duty free liquors.

Just like the police waving us through check points recently (2 years or so)...tell me the attitude toward foreigners isn't changing.

Again, I make not like everything Correa is doing, but I sure like this part.
