I am unsure of how to use this forum--but my message is for all to read--nota PM. I have been in this country now for five months and have mixed feelings about friendliness and acceptance here. On the one hand--I have made some good friends here who help me--but they are not just Ecuadorian. I think there are the good, the bad, the ugly--everywhere and in every culture. Two Ekkies come to mind in the latter two descriptors--neighbours. I have also met some very arrogant and obnoxious expats. Perhaps I have fallen into that category at times. But I must say --that is not who I am. I don't want to feel disrespected nor be disrespectful and for me --it is all about civility for everyone. Racism does exist here--against the indigenous w have no Spanish blood and of course that can include Caucasians as well. All I can do I be pleasant and polite--try to help--to understand and to help others understand. A question I would have to the gods of experience out there is this--in Canada--when the Muslims inundate our culture and are in fact granted Canadian Citizenship--they are considered--citizens. Why is it not the same elsewhere?
