Who lives in Ecuador

My husband and I moved from Florida to Cuenca in 2013. He is a gringo and I am Chilean who had lived in Miami for 40 years. Our reasons for leaving were due economical problems. We made a trip to find out where we would like to live in Ecuador, also that there would be Hospitals since my husband has a lot of health issues. We did not like Manta it was too small for us. We fell in love with Cuenca. We are still in Cuenca and still love it. I think the hardest was our first three months. We have a lot of friends that are expats and a lot of great Ecuadorian friends. We have been following the Expat Exchange since 2013. We have gotten a lot of good help from others in this forum. But of lately it has been a lot of bickering. I very seldom have given some information. We also have met Malcolm Reading who has always given us good information and is a nice man. I have seen Susan put him down many times, I know and read about his past which is shady but the man I met here has never acted or done anything harmful to anybody. My moto is live your life and let others be. I also met Ken Merena and he was also very nice to us. Yes he is not very tolerant to other people and he's a very highly intelligent person and I guess people who are in that category its hardtop deal with us normal people, also he had a very bad surgery in which he almost lost his and leg and was in high danger of losing his life. I think if we were in the same situation we don't know how we would handle it.
I have nothing against Susan but sometimes she goes after certain people and does not let go. Not long ago someone had mention a lawyer by the name Matty Duran, I sent a post advising that person to stay away from her. I know of a couple who were taken for over $3,000, and my post never appeared. I have nothing against Susan I think she does a lot of good in her area, But bashing people seems to be a hobby with a lot of people. Since I am fluent in Spanish I have helped a lot of people get their visas with out a lawyer and even Canadians, I have never taken a penny nor do I intend to. I lived 40 years in the united states and even though deep in my heart I'm still a Chilean I feel very American. I have dual nationality and I'm blond and blue eyed so I do not look Spanish at all and speak English without an accent. We are here to stay In Cuenca, I know it is hard for a lot of Americans due to language and culture but be opened minded and don't expect much and you will get a lot more than you can ever imagine from these people. Best of all to those living here. Pam
