Introduction

Hola,

I last flew into and traveled in Ecuador (Quito > Cuenca > Vilcabamba) on the night that El Presidente was flying out while the Congress was surrounded by angry farmers. (Despite their protests the Sucre soon went the way of the Dodo:((( I remember two Vilca residents - Felipe & Felicia & Felicia's Macaw - though I know Felipe moved to the Sacred Valley some years ago.

I also remember a man who hung with a pack of dogs on the main corner, and a forest of long-spined Cacti which I enjoyed whether or not they were related to the Man-Dog's behavior.

While I had been considering a move from Sacto/uSa to Colombia, and posted quite a bit on that forum, I’ve concluded that the situation in CO is still too "uncertain" and emotionally charged for my current needs.

While I am fond of Portenos, and the honorable folk of Argentina in general, it seems more $ensible for me to consider Ecuador as a new home now that I am on the wrong side of 50 and have no attachments to the uSa. (My Mom passed in October.)

There is no particular point in asking a bunch of questions, though in time I may, and while Vilca may be where I end up purchasing a humble abode, I am also very interested in Loja.

I have three questions to ask at this time: who would be my best resource for up to date info on the applying for residency process; how much should I expect said person's help to cost; and what is his or her name/email contact?

I am currently on SSI (disability, though my new hip looks to be a winner:) and I want to get the ball rolling before I settle my Mom's Estate later this year.

You can contact me privately, though I will 'vet' any referrals publicly, in the hopes that some honest consensus will best serve my interests.

I am a very decent and kind human being who is strongly interested in (gently) improving the circumstances of whichever community fortune finds me. I am not particularly ‘New Age’, though I believe in the possibility of all things and am a great admirer of Don Castaneda;~)

Thank you in advance for whatever kindness you may have to offer,

Que te vaya bien,

Don Cristobal;~)
