Early start on my due diligence

As I am only 58 retirement is still 4 years out, but I have started my research. I have looked at a number of potential destinations, and I keep coming back to Cuenca. I am planning on visiting at least once this year and many times thereafter. I have started my study of the Spanish language and although I know it will be a challenge, I don't want to live in a culture that I cannot at least somewhat communicate with the local population. The few things that I am having a problem wrapping my arms around are the residency process, acquiring health insurance and the banking system. It would be nice to meet someone on this Forum that I could learn from and possible meet when I visit. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
