Ecuador and Cuenca in particular

Hi all I am new here and came here because my wife and I are interested in Ecuador and in particular Cuenca. I basically have 3 questions of those who have made Ecuador your home. They are:
1. What brought you to decide on Ecuador?

2. What keeps you in Ecuador?

3. How has livng in Ecuador changed your life (whether good or bad)?

I will give you a bit of background on us. I am a retired US soldier and my wife is a dual US and South Korean citizen. Married for 37 years with one child and no grand children. We are 59 years old and 6 months apart in age. Good health with some aches and pains. We live in Massachusetts and are tired of snow. We will have enough income and savings to choose anyplace we want. No Spanish in us but we are willing to learn.
