Devastated & Alone in Guayaquil

So I arrived in Guayaquil on Saturday to finally meet a woman I’ve been in an ‘internet relationship’ with for almost a year. She spent that night with me at my AirBnB (but had to bring her young daughter, who insisted on sleeping in the bed with us, so no fireworks that night) and went home in the morning to get some things, leave her daughter with her aunt, etc. During that time, her mother found out what she was doing, came to her home and there was some massive confrontation. Apparently, because she met me online and was going to be staying with me for a week, she committed some kind of terrible sin, for which God will surely punish her. This is what her mother convinced her of. She called me, crying, saying that she couldn’t see me again. I didn’t even know how to respond. What does one say about something so ridiculous? I’ve been alone in the apartment since, crying and watching f’ing Netflix. I spent a lot of $ to travel all of the way here to meet the woman I thought I may spend the rest of my life with. Now, I’m just devastated and really confused. Anyway, I don’t want to stay in my apartment and sulk until I fly back to Canada on Monday, so I was hoping someone out there could give me some ideas of things to do, places to go, etc. in Guayaquil, to keep my mind off this awful, depressing situation I’m in. Are there any American style bars here? Anywhere I might meet someone else to hang out with for a while? I believe everything happens for a reason. The universe didn’t send me all the way to Ecuador just to have my heart broken. There must be something else for me here.
