VA Video Connect

For US Veterans Administration (VA) enrollees, have you used their VA Video Connect platform for a medical visit from afar? I’ve just started researching this program, but thought I’d reach out and ask if anyone has used it? If so, how is it working out for you?

I’m compiling a list of medical/dental resources in the various countries we visit. This includes a Tricare list of overseas contracted medical providers with address and contact information. Once completed, I’ll post the list with links. If you have experience with medical/dental resources, please share. I’d appreciate this. I’m sure others would, as well. If allowed, I’ll include Embassy Warden contact info if I’m able to find it and they agree.

Susan, are you still the Embassy Warden in your area?

I understand there is a clinic in Panama which sees Tricare enrollees. I’ll go back and look for the posts discussing that in the Panama forum. Recently either a twitter or Facebook link was given. I know Ecuador isn’t Panama, but are there similar clinics/hospitals in your area?

We haven’t had cause to do so but understand medical bills can be sent to Tricare for reimbursement after self-pay. I’ve read where reimbursement can take many months, and that’s okay with us.

Dental- per new (2019) military retiree/Federal employee dental/vision coverage changes, we chose to replace our Delta Dental plan with one which allows overseas/out of country coverage.
Vision- will pay out of pocket, if needed. Our vision plan doesn’t include out of country reimbursement.

As I understand, should stateside medical evacuation be required, Tricare will cover this. At least they did many (over 20) years ago. I stumbled upon that tidbit while researching medical options and plotting military hospitals/clinics on a AAA map of Europe. We were visiting Germany near the then Chez and Polish boarders. I wanted to know which facility was closest. We had a progressively deteriorating medical emergency which fortunately, resolved itself. Since then I try to be as prepared as possible prior to travel.

So, until I make the time to go back through this forums extensive and impressive posts to search for previously listed links/resources, please feel free to share…. even again.

Aside from ExpatExchange I don’t use social platforms. Any suggestion for groups or other links will be appreciated and added to our list as additional resources.
