Visa Expiration

Hello Ecuador Expats! I have a few questions about the expiration date of the temporary 2 year visas.

Do the 2 year visas expire from 2 years after the date they are issued? Or do they expire from 2 years after we arrive in Ecuador? If the countdown begins after we arrive, is there a timeframe by which you need to arrive in Ecuador, once the visas are issued? TIA!
