Expats helping expats

This was done in Cotacachi on a volunteer basis. Maybe you can get some useful information from it and think about setting up a similar organization in your town

There is an organization in Cotacachi for all ex-pats called "Cotacachi Health Network" that has many healthcare planning issues and more in case one is hospitalized for any period of time. Check out the website below for that and lots of other information.

They usually had 2 or 3 meetings a year to introduce newcomers to Cotacachi Health Network. It's too much for any one person to do alone, so they had a committee working on this for over a year. The website was set up by 2 website developers who are ex-pats.

In addition, they had a Health Fairs where anyone with a service or products related to health and wellness could have a table and sell their products and introduce their services to the public, ex-pats and Ecuadorians alike. Doctors, therapists, chiropractors, a local funeral home, organic food producers, and just about any and every one that had anything to do with health, wellness, and dying or becoming incapacitated. All the vendors and service providers come from Cotacachi, Otavalo, Ibarra, and even an insurance company or 2 from Quito.
