Crime/ breakinsHello.

Hello, this is not a good topic to talk about and many try to hide it but it must be faced by anyone who thinks about coming to ecuador or almost any other country...crime...i am not talking about steeling your wallet but that happens also i am talking about breaking down your door at 3am tying you up trashing your house and beating your wife and children beyond reason..this is happening...i was told this morning about 2 senior ladies living in a house around the vilcabamba region (town about 18 mins away from vilcabamba) these old ladies were beaten for hours..this can happen to you and your family..it might not but it could this is the facts and the truth.this is a beautiful country has many benefits but this is happening and can happen to you.it is a belief here that every expat is rich...and you must be hiding cash some where..i have no idea why the gov is doing nothing about it this is verry bad twards those who retire and bring economic benefits to their country.and just a heads up it was not 1 person that assaulted those nice old ladies it was 5!! There is no safe zone in ecuador that you cross a line and say ok im good here the people that break in houses and beat expats does not come this side of the line..ah no ..please think about this seriously and don't drive Cadillacs or wear designer shoes that is a advertisement for the wrong people.this needs to be discussed out in the open honestly.and for those who say well that is just one case ...for the last month or longer in and around vilcabamba there were early morning break ins from 6 men with rifles and tazers the athorities did nothing about it a group of expats finally had to rise up and put a stop to it.this is what your thinking of walking into...we left the amazonian region due to the verry bad unspoken severe crime.deadly stabbings heavy drugs people being turned into fish food this is hidden and not discussed lets open this can of worms now in hopes some one does not walk into a situation unaware.for those who have thier heads in the sand behind electrified fence in gated communities you dont live in the real world.hiding behind a fence only proves my point that if this wasnt happening you would not need to be behind your barbed wire.think seriously folks..this isnt ecuadors problem alone almost any other country down here is the same some much worse.but as we live here we are speaking from experiance.
