Friends leaving due to high crime

Hello everyone,we are fello expats who live in ecuador we had done our homework chatted with people on forums ect and still after living here for a couple of years we are astounded to find that crime is still avoided as topics when it should be number 1.we have lived outside vilca,we have lived in sacua in the oriente and did live in vilcabamba untill the verry violent home invasions became to much and we moved out into the mountains..At this time we still hear of roughly 3 to 4 invasions on average a week in vilca when we go for a coffee with friends and hear that no one was beaten senseless or had razor blades used on them we count it as a great day.a week ago i went in to vilca for supplies and found people buying food for the latest victim he was a older man in his own home beaten senseless the night before.in sacua the crime is verry bad family members of ecuadorian friends we knew were telling us about the crime no one speaks about as they try to hide it.this morning o ce again im talking with a good friend who has had enough of this country and after all his work to get visa ect is leaving and is so verry happy to be leaving.this country does not protect us expats here we are all targets these are facts,if you are thinking of coming here this is what you need to be thinking about! Not if the ocean is a good location drug crime is horrable there..vilcabamba is verry beautiful and weather is great but the people that await you eagerly will do thier best to rob you blind and beat you like a rag doll usually around 2am .unfortunatly i am not exagurating i wish i was.Ecuadore needs to do a better job of protecting us who move here from other countries and bring financial benefits to this economy.this needs to be the #1 discussion personal safty.and the relitors and tour guids that are on here and people that have never had to hear of thier friends being beaten in thier own houses and hear of some one els the next day this is real and true.i contacted our u.s officials who are supposed to be helping us in this country and they honestly didnt care and refused to eaven try to help said if we didnt like it move back home.welcome to ecuadore.if this problem can be solved this would be a amazing place to live.but ask yourselves for your wife or your children or your selves,is it worth it.
