I'm a 67 yr young woman. Is Loja friendly to older people?

Are people in Loja friendly in general and patient with someone with limited Spanish?

In my spare time I'd like to volunteer to work with someone or a group giving free English lessons to the community. Is there anything like that there?

Lastly, I'm interested in helping and learning with a medicine woman and becoming very involved with the traditional Ecuadorian beliefs and culture. Is this possible?
