Questions for English speaking residents in Ecuador

1. Should I wait until I am fluent in Spanish before relocating to Ecuador?
2. Where should I move within Ecuador to balance out my top three concerns:
a) Security - I don't want to be somewhere that I am likely to fall victim to criminals,
especially those that hate gringos.
b) Cost of Living - Since I don't have any source of income presently, what advice can you
give for a semi-retired tech worker that can't find work in America due to ageism,
wokeism.
c) Sustainability - While I believe the United States will experience great unrest and maybe
even civil war, I also believe the financial collapse will affect all societies globally. I seek
be close to where my food is grown and/or raised, perhaps even have a small farm
myself if I am able.
3. Please describe the cultural values of Ecuador, dominant religions.
4. Please describe the scope of government, would you call it a nanny state, with many govt
handouts? or more merit based with volunteers providing the bulk of the safety net for the
disadvantaged.
5. Please describe police enforcement, is it a police state, where there is no right to privacy?

I'd appreciate any insights.
