Autism Services in Ecuador

11d ago
Hello Expats, I have two boys on the spectrum (both essentially non-verbal), and my family is looking for a slower more peaceful way of life than in the states. I have been exploring Latin America, and am very interested in Ecuador. However, I can't seem to find ANY information on Autism services. The international schools are very expensive, but I would figure it out if I knew whether they could accommodate special needs. Even here at home, I've had experience with schools/daycares saying "oh, yes. Everyone is welcome!" but then they tell me they don't know what to do because they don't learn the same as other children. They are both currently in special needs classrooms at public school in the mornings and do in-home ABA therapy in the afternoons. I don't think ABA will be an option, and I've come to terms with that. I'm just wondering if homeschool is my only option. Does anyone have any experience with this? Would getting an in-home tutor to help me out be an attainable/affordable/reasonable option?
