cellphone contract?

Hellow everyone :)

I was wondering...is it advisable to bring cellphone from home or do you get phone with your contract?

i cannot fully grasp how big cairo is... i hear everywhere that its a huge city but distances and concept of such hectic traffic elludes me. what is the distance between heliopolis and nasr city? how long will it take from heliopolis to Nasr city in morning traffic?

also i am comming with a 4month old baby...do you think it is posssible to hire a female to clean, and come with me to do shopping? maybe offer to teach her english if she teaches me arabic? do you think anyone would be open to such an offer? kind of assistant/companion? what would you think such a service/exchange would cost?
