I look forward to your advice regarding life/living in Cairo as a single person. I am an American; I recently moved to Cairo and am considering housing in the Downtown (Zamalek, Mohandeseen, etc) and Maadi areas. Although Maadi has a very nice feel, I get the sense that it is disproportionately family-oriented and perhaps would marginalize a single expat. So, I am leaning towards the downtown areas. I am open to your thoughts and input regarding housing and perhaps advice in how to go about building a social network in Cairo.
